Resident Evil 6 Announced

With Capcom announcing Resident Evil titles left right and center recently, it came as something of a surprise that a mainline Resident Evil title wasn't announced. With the third person shooter and 3DS games out within the next few months, what better time to announce Resident Evil 6 than right smack bang in the middle of January?

What we know of the game so far is that it'll be harkening back to the multiple character arc of Resident Evils 2,3 and Code Veronica - with at least three playable characters confirmed. Firstly, we have Leon S. Kennedy, who's been tasked to the city of Tall Trees to take care of a massive outbreak. Secondly, is everyones favourite BSAA agent and professional boulder puncher Chris Redfield, as he handles an outbreak in an unnamed Chinese city. Thirdly, we have an new, unnamed protaganist, whose blood is the key to the current outbreak.

As for the game itself? Well, it doesn't seem like the Las Plagas plague is the cause, so it's back to a more...zombie like enemy that you'll be fighting. The other is that it seems to play like much more of a straight up action game - which is the best way Capcom could sell the game, rather than try to pass it off as a horror title (like what they tried with Resident Evil 5).

With a confirmed release date of November 20th for the PS3 and 360, and a PC release later int he year, it's going to be a good year for Resident Evil fans...
